Frequently Asked Questions

What happens at my first appointment?

Before starting your treatment, you will be asked to complete a short form to screen for any relevant health issues and for me to understand any areas of your body where you are experiencing tension or pain.

Will I need to undress?

You may be asked to remove items of clothing necessary for the area of your body being treated.  For a full body massage, you will be asked to undress completely except for your underwear.  I will leave the room whilst you undress to allow you privacy and you will be provided with towels to cover yourself.

Can I keep my jewellery on?

It’s easier and safer for me to massage you if you have removed your jewellery.  However, if you prefer to keep it on, please just tell me first and I will be careful to massage around it.

Is massage painful?

Some of the deeper techniques used may feel tender during or after treatment.  That said, it should not be painful, so you will be asked throughout your massage how the pressure feels for you and its important that you provide honest answers.  Many people say they have a high pain threshold, but the goal of massage is not about seeing how much pain your body can handle.  I aim to work with your body, not against it.  If you experience pain, its important for you to tell me so that the pressure can be adjusted accordingly.  And it’s ok to tell me more than once – many people like the pressure adjusted according to which part of the body I am working on.

Is it rude if I fall asleep?

Not at all!  In fact, when someone falls asleep on my table, it is the greatest compliment.  If I have been able to provide an atmosphere in which you feel safe, relaxed and pampered, then I have succeeded!  After the massage, I will encourage you to take your time and move slowly, since its likely your blood pressure will have lowered slightly and of course you want to retain that post-massage feeling for as long as possible.  My scheduling allows for you to go at your pace.

Is it usual to talk during the massage?

The massage is your time to focus on your wellbeing, so I’ll always let you lead on this.  I won’t ever initiate conversation, whilst you are on my table.  If you feel like chatting, then I’ll happily chat with you, however if you prefer it quiet, that’s fine too.  Personally, I find I focus better when I’m not talking.

How do I pay?

I accept card or cash and payment is required on the day of your appointment.

What if I need to cancel?

Please contact me by phone, email or text if you cannot attend an appointment.  If you would like to postpone your appointment, this will always be accommodated.  If you need to cancel your appointment, I request you provide me with 24 hours’ notice.
